Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Medical Collections Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Westlake Village, California. In this role, you will be responsible for managing accounts receivable, resolving insurance claims, and ensuring timely payments from patients and third-party payers. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining efficient billing processes and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders.

Job Responsibility:

  • Monitor and manage outstanding accounts receivable to ensure timely collections
  • Review and resolve insurance claims discrepancies by working directly with payers
  • Investigate denied or underpaid claims and file appeals to secure proper reimbursements
  • Communicate with patients professionally to address billing inquiries and payment arrangements
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activities, payments, and account statuses
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies during all collection processes
  • Collaborate with billing and administrative teams to resolve account discrepancies effectively
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems and other billing platforms to track and manage claims
  • Analyze and report on collection trends to improve processes and outcomes

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in medical collections, billing, or accounts receivable within a healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with medical billing systems such as Allscripts, Cerner, and EHR platforms
  • Strong knowledge of insurance claims processes, appeals, and denial management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and tools like Accurint and DDE
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with patients and insurance companies
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounts efficiently
  • Understanding of medical terminology and compliance regulations
