Job Description

Our healthcare client in Sacramento is seeking an experienced Medical Collections Specialist for an immediate contract opportunity. This role requires a professional who can work with a high sense of urgency, manage outstanding accounts efficiently, and support a fast-paced revenue cycle environment. This position is fully on-site and requires daily attendance in the Sacramento office.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage and follow up on outstanding insurance and patient balances in a timely manner
  • Review aging reports and prioritize accounts for collection activity
  • Contact insurance companies and/or patients to resolve unpaid claims and secure payment
  • Research denials, underpayments, and payment discrepancies and take appropriate action
  • Document collection efforts, account updates, and resolutions accurately in the billing system
  • Collaborate with billing, coding, and other revenue cycle team members to resolve account issues
  • Maintain productivity standards while ensuring professionalism and accuracy
  • Support additional revenue cycle or collections-related projects as needed

Requirements

  • 2+ years of medical collections experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Strong understanding of insurance follow-up, denials management, and accounts receivable processes
  • Experience working with billing systems, EMR/EHR platforms, or collections software
  • Ability to prioritize a high-volume workload and meet deadlines with urgency
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working fully on-site in Sacramento
