Medical Assistant position in Obstetrics/Gynecology department. Provides patient care adhering to scope of practice, follows policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty.
Job Responsibility:
Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice
Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history
Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered
Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing
Administers medications and vaccines safely
Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion
Cross trained to perform duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice
Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation
Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training per DD214 (or equivalent experience in some divisions)
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required (or must be obtained within 45 days in some divisions)
Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment
Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail
Demonstrates customer service skills
Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills
Nice to have:
Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within 1 year in select areas
