Job Description:

Medical Assistant position at Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute Kenilworth Electrophysiology. Full-time role involving patient care, clinical procedures, lab work, medication administration, and administrative tasks in a cardiovascular specialty setting.

Job Responsibility:

  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks (vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, screenings)
  • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered
  • Performs lab related duties (venipuncture, specimen collection, POCT)
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely
  • Performs other duties (medication refills, authorizations, log completion, messaging, ordering, scheduling, referrals)
  • Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork
  • Maintains a clean work environment and ensures equipment/supplies are stocked
  • May assist with training and onboarding of other teammates

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training per DD214 (or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years for IL/WI/Floyd & Navicent divisions)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required (or to be obtained within 45 days for IL/WI/Floyd & Navicent)
  • Recognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by a National Organization (e.g., AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT)
  • Two years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant
  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills including keyboarding and use of electronic mail/medical records
  • Demonstrates customer service skills
  • Must meet physical requirements (sitting, standing, walking, lifting 35 lbs, etc.)
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch

Nice to have:

  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within 1 year in select areas
  • Successful completion of system approved program to become a primary trainer for new teammates
  • May serve as a role champion or on a committee
