Job Description

As a Medical Assistant, reporting to Manager, Central Administration, you will be the first contact for patient care, responsible for administrative responsibilities in addition to patient care. Working onsite, you will perform varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments. You will typically work on semi-routine assignments.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform Clinical responsibilities include discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, and administering medications and vaccines
  • Additional responsibilities involve performing phlebotomy, collecting specimens, and conducting diagnostic screening tests
  • Sterilize and cleaning equipment, maintaining examination rooms, and documenting information into the electronic medical records system
  • Collaborate with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers
  • Deliver direct patient care dependent on what active certification allows
  • Decisions typically focus on interpretation of area/department policy and methods for completing assignments
  • Work within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards but has latitude over prioritization/timing
  • Follow standard procedures that allow opportunity for interpretation/deviation

Requirements

  • Successful completion of MA school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of MA experience with written approval from Provider
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certified
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication
  • This role is considered patient facing and is part of the company's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program

Nice to have

  • Certified or Registered
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience
  • 1+ years MA experience
  • Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience
  • Phlebotomy experience

  • May 'pend' orders which include laboratory testing and radiology studies for provider sign-off
  • Documents, in the electronic medical record, medical visits/procedures performed by healthcare providers in accordance with established procedures
  • Enters data such as: patient medical history/physical exam results, patient education/explanation of benefits/risks, provider-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient/family relating to self-care and follow-up, and prepared referral letters as directed by the provider
  • Reviews medical documentation to validate information and to identify inconsistencies/errors and facilitate overall accuracy of the medical record in accordance with established procedures/requirements
