The MA Supervisor, (Clinical Floor Supervisor) (CFS) coordinates and supervises the care provided by a designated group of Medical Assistants (MAs), ensuring that they adhere to Westside’s standards and procedures in all aspects of their work. The CFS may also assess patient health problems and needs, maintain medical records, advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, coordinate with other members of the patient care teams and act as a clinical resource for the team.
Job Responsibility:
Direct the daily activities of the Medical Assistant staff, including the assignment and completion of tasks, quality oversight and readiness, and preparation
Resolve coverage issues related to scheduled and unscheduled absences
Provide support to site MA team, including supporting orientation and ongoing training when needed
Work in conjunction with the Nurse Manager to maintain vaccine and supply inventory and serve as a main contact for Vaccines for Children/317 programs
Participate in quality improvement activities and initiatives with a focus on sustainability
Ensure daily point-of-care testing is completed per manufacturers recommendations
Oversee the testing of all assigned equipment to ensure equipment is working properly
Complete MA timesheets, performance evaluations, performance improvement plans and formal corrective actions documentation as needed
Facilitate the timely completion of MA competencies for the site MAs and address any identified staff deficiencies
Participate in the recruiting, interviewing, orientation, and training of new MA team members
Act as the liaison with the Lead Clinical Floor Supervisor/Nurse Supervisor/Manager for issues that arise with the MAs
Perform the duties and responsibilities of the Medical Assistant as defined in the Medical Assistant job description
Maintain Medical Assistant certification and CPR/BLS certification
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Successful completion of a medical assistant training program at an accredited institution
At least 5 years of experience as a medical assistant, preferably in the area of ambulatory care
Current Medical Assistant certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NCMA or NHCA
Current certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
At least six months of experience using Microsoft Office software and electronic medical record software
Availability to work evenings until 9 p.m. and occasional Saturday mornings
Reliable transportation and ability to travel independently between sites
Nice to have:
Bi-lingual Spanish preferred
Phlebotomy certified preferred
Completion of a college-level leadership or management course
Associate degree in Allied Health, Science, Medical Assisting, or other healthcare-related field
Two years of experience monitoring the performance of at least six employees in an ambulatory outpatient setting
Completion of an interpreter training course, certification by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters or certification by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters strongly preferred
