Medical Assistant position in Orthopedics department, performing clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care.
Job Responsibility:
Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice
Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history
Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered
Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection
Administers medications and vaccines
Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations
Cross trained to perform duties relevant to specialty
Demonstrates effective and timely communication
Maintains a clean work environment
Provide age-appropriate care
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training per DD214 (or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years for IL/WI/Floyd & Navicent divisions)
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required (or must be obtained within 45 days for IL/WI/Floyd & Navicent divisions)
Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient computer skills
Demonstrates customer service skills
Must be able to perform physical requirements including lifting 35 pounds
