Job Description:

Medical Assistant I position at Atrium Health South Charlotte Internal Medicine. Full-time role with Monday-Friday 8am-5pm schedule. Part of Advocate Health, providing care under Atrium Health in the Carolinas.

Job Responsibility:

  • Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice
  • Performs rooming/visit tasks (vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, screenings)
  • Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered
  • Performs lab related duties (venipuncture, specimen collection, POCT)
  • Administers medications and vaccines safely
  • Performs other duties (medication refills, authorizations, log completion, patient messaging, scheduling, referrals)
  • Cross trained to perform duties relevant to specialty
  • Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork
  • Maintains a clean work environment and ensures equipment/supplies are stocked
  • Provides age-appropriate care

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or structured military training per DD214 (or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years for IL/WI/Floyd & Navicent divisions)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required (or must be obtained within 45 days for IL/WI/Floyd & Navicent)
  • Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment (for Greater Charlotte & Wake Forest)
  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems
  • Demonstrates customer service skills
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements (sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 35 lbs, etc.)
