Job Description:

ChristianaCare is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant for the Hematology Oncology practice at the Helen F. Graham Center in Newark, DE. Our medical assistants are responsible for all rooming, chaperoning, supporting office procedures, patient check-out, chart prep, phone triage, Cerner desktop management, FMLA/disability paperwork and prior authorizations, both surgical and diagnostic.

Job Responsibility:

  • Greeting and assisting patients both virtually and on-site
  • Rooming patients and preparing them for visits by taking and recording vital signs
  • Performing point of care testing
  • Administering injections and medications
  • Conducting EKGs when needed
  • Supporting clinicians during examinations and procedures
  • Preparing treatment rooms with essential supplies
  • Completing patient-specific paperwork
  • Ensuring electronic medical records (EMR) are up to date with relevant test results for subsequent visits
  • Handling patient callbacks with information as directed by providers
  • Following state guidelines for the sterilization of medical equipment
  • Managing prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
  • Scheduling tests and surgeries
  • Performing quality control on point of care testing equipment
  • Offering documentation assistance during provider examinations and procedures
  • Undertaking clerical tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Troubleshooting issues with video visits
  • Helping patients utilize ChristianaCare’s Patient Portal
  • Working safely, adhering to departmental safety rules, and promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or violations

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • A graduate of a recognized Medical Office Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
