The Medical Assistant Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative, operational and clinical support to Student Health Services providers and the student population in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment. This role coordinates referral management, provider scheduling, and key administrative workflows while performing all core medical assistant functions to ensure efficient clinic operations, regulatory compliance, and continuity of care. The position serves as a central liaison among providers, students, Medical Assistants, and external community partners; manages referral tracking and reconciliation within the EHR; supports internal and external appointment scheduling; and may assist with critical operational tools such as provider schedule templates, on-call calendars, processing health record release requests for current and former students, and after-hours coverage information. The Medical Assistant Coordinator also provides backup coverage for peers, assists leadership with quality improvement and administrative initiatives, and contributes to patient intake, phone coverage, and greeter functions to support safe, timely, and patient-centered care delivery.

Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
Certification from a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent, including training in medical and office assisting
Clinical experience in an ambulatory setting
CPR Certification
Minimum one-year medical office experience preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain work priorities in an environment with multiple concurrent tasks and projects while meeting deadlines with minimum supervision
Excellent computer proficiency, including Zoom, Google Suite of collaborative tools, Microsoft Office
Excel, Word and Powerpoint
Proven ability to be proactive and take initiative in day-to-day activities in order to implement process improvements
Respect confidential information with discretion
Ability to work with a diverse student population
Ability to handle stressful situations
