Job Description

We’re looking for a highly motivated Mechatronics & Robotics Engineer to tackle core challenges at the intersection of hardware, embedded systems, and robotics software. You’ll help design, prototype, and integrate components of our robotic systems — from embedded controllers to custom end-effectors — and bring them to life on real hardware running ROS-based stacks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on engineering and systems integration, and who thrives in dynamic environments where innovation and ownership matter.

Job Responsibility

  • Design, prototype, and test mechatronic components (mechanical actuators, sensors, motor drivers, wiring harnesses)
  • Collaborate with industrial designers and mechanical engineers to build custom grippers and robotic hands optimized for real-world manipulation
  • Integrate embedded systems into robotic platforms — power electronics, microcontrollers, sensor interfaces, and communication buses
  • Develop embedded firmware for real-time control and sensing, including support for platforms such as ROS/ROS 2, microcontrollers (STM32/ESP32), and compute modules (Jetson/Orin)
  • Implement drivers, control loops, and communication interfaces that link hardware and higher-level software
  • Support simulation ↔ reality testing with Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or similar tools as part of iterative development
  • Debug and validate robotic subsystems on real rigs and in lab environments
  • Work closely with controls and AI teams to integrate software control with physical systems
  • Automate testing and CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust performance across releases
  • Collaborate with product, AI, and research teams to refine specifications based on experimental feedback
  • Contribute to documentation, design reviews, and knowledge sharing
  • Help maintain quality, safety, and reliability standards in all stages of development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong practical experience in embedded systems, hardware design, and integration
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, and electromechanical systems
  • Comfortable using CAD / simulation tools — SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Gazebo, Isaac, etc.

Nice to have

  • Experience with 3D printing / rapid prototyping for custom parts
  • Familiarity with real-time systems, FPGA/RTOS, or motor control firmware
  • Prior robotics project experience in startups or research labs
  • Understanding of gripper design, torque control, and compliant mechanisms
  • Exposure to automated testing frameworks and CI/CD for embedded pipelines
  • Ability to understand French

What we offer

  • Opportunity to work on real-world AI robotics products with deep impact
  • Mentorship from experienced AI & robotics founders and engineers
  • Great offices in Nantes with many robots
  • Growth and learning opportunities in a high-impact startup
