Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in SolidWorks including Model creation and deformation modeling/simulation
Experience with Aluminum Extrusion including: Model assembly creation, Assembly quoting, Assembly Labor estimation
Experience with laying out and designing pneumatic systems
Prior experience reporting to management in other locations is a plus
Sitting for long periods of time
Long hours of computer work
Some car and air travel required

Job Responsibility

Collaborate with customers and the sales team to design custom solutions
Create and approve customer quotes and sales orders utilizing our ERP and engineering design tools as required
Use 3D SolidWorks to design safety guard frames, pneumatic assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, custom components, enclosures and various mechanical assemblies
Work cross-functionally with operations to ensure purchasing and planning execution are successful
Create shop floor documentation and provide technical guidance internally and externally
Perform various stress bearing and maximum load capacity calculations
Research, designs, and develops tools, machines, controls, equipment, and mechanical processes
Oversee production, installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and development of new, modified, and/or existing systems
Work with production staff on design revisions and red lines as needed
Collaborate and support customer support needs and on-site visits as needed for FIA

10+ years of experience in mechanical design, test and calibration equipment development, or precision metrology systems

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatic and electromechanical integration, and manufacturing processes

Conceptualize, design, and document assembly jigs, test fixtures, and precision metrology systems to support both production and validation testing
Develop custom calibration and test instruments, including mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical assemblies for high-accuracy measurements
Integrate sensors, load cells, displacement transducers, pressure gauges, and other instrumentation into test systems to support product calibration and verification
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Calibration Labs, and Contract Manufacturers) to define test requirements and system capabilities
Utilize CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models and drawings of mechanical systems, with GD&T applied for precision alignment and repeatability
Generate and maintain Requirement Documents, Calibration Procedures, and Test System Specifications to ensure alignment between product and test design intent
Participate in supplier design reviews and qualification of external test and calibration equipment
