Are you looking for a Trades Assistant role on Afternoon Shift that could see you being utilised across a number of fleet projects? We have opportunities throughout the Brisbane City Council’s Transport division that are looking for mechanical Trades Assistants.

Job Responsibility:

Workshop/Mechanical labouring – workshop maintenance, generalised mechanical duties including fluid changing, tyre fitting, parts fitting, vehicle wrapping, vehicle refuelling, auditing, safety checking, general repairs, parts ordering, stocktake etc.

Requirements:

  • MR/HR Class drivers licence – necessary
  • Work safety in the Construction Industry (White Card) – necessary
  • Varying experience is beneficial and preferred, along with the skills to work across different industries if required
  • Qualifications/Trade Experience in heavy vehicle machinery or similar

Nice to have:

  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules for all hatchery equipment such as hydroelectric turbine generators, diesel generators, front-end loaders, pickup trucks, gas pumps, outboard motors, welders, cement mixers, steam cleaners, pressure washers, snow removal equipment, and power tools
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and necessary repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure operational efficiency
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine solutions by referencing blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
  • Complete architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical system preventative maintenance as assigned
  • Perform general cleaning, painting, and repairs to roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, and other building components
