Excel Services is a fast-growing design-build contractor looking for an experienced Mechanical Trade Instructor to train and grow our skilled workforce. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who values integrity, accountability, teamwork, loyalty, innovativeness, and quality craftsmanship. The Mechanical (HVAC) Trade Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering mechanical and HVAC training that prepares employees for safe, efficient, and code-compliant work in the field. This role facilitates classroom instruction, hands-on lab training, and on-the-job learning aligned with company standards, safety requirements, and real job-site conditions. This position plays a key role in workforce development by strengthening technical knowledge, reinforcing safety practices, and supporting consistency across mechanical operations. The Mechanical Trade Instructor works closely with Training leadership, Safety, and Operations to support company training initiatives.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and facilitate mechanical and HVAC training content
  • Deliver instruction aligned with mechanical codes and company standards
  • Conduct hands-on lab training using real-world systems and scenarios
  • Support on-the-job training alongside foremen and supervisors
  • Assess trainee skills and provide performance feedback
  • Reinforce safety practices and quality workmanship
  • Maintain training documentation and support LMS tracking as needed
  • Support continuous improvement of training programs

Requirements:

  • HVAC or Mechanical certification or license (as applicable)
  • Minimum 5+ years of field experience in commercial or industrial mechanical/HVAC work
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, codes, and safety requirements
  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and system operation

Nice to have:

  • Teaching, mentoring, or training experience
  • Computer skills (email, LMS platforms, presentations)
  • Ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously
  • Strong initiative and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience supporting apprentices or junior technicians
