Job Description:

This position performs various types of testing including physical/mechanical, corrosion, and metallographic testing, the preparation of the test samples, basic preventative maintenance of testing and preparation equipment, and the reporting of the test results. It is a union position that works shifts, requires some weekend work, and has overtime opportunities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Participation in world class safety program
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately while following established procedures
  • Use and operate test equipment (tensile machines, hardness machines, etc.) and sample preparation equipment (shears, milling machines, belt sanders, etc.)
  • Ability to learn trends/see patterns in test results and react properly to items that seem out of the normal range of results
  • Monitor systems and report/react to reported warnings/failures
  • Interact with internal staff and testing personnel, as required, in the performance of job responsibilities

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, or materials testing
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to work independently

Nice to have:

  • Associates degree in a science discipline
  • Experience in routine testing (physical/mechanical, corrosion, and/or metallography)
