This position performs various types of testing including physical/mechanical, corrosion, and metallographic testing, the preparation of the test samples, basic preventative maintenance of testing and preparation equipment, and the reporting of the test results. It is a union position that works shifts, requires some weekend work, and has overtime opportunities.
Job Responsibility:
Participation in world class safety program
Ability to work quickly and accurately while following established procedures
Use and operate test equipment (tensile machines, hardness machines, etc.) and sample preparation equipment (shears, milling machines, belt sanders, etc.)
Ability to learn trends/see patterns in test results and react properly to items that seem out of the normal range of results
Monitor systems and report/react to reported warnings/failures
Interact with internal staff and testing personnel, as required, in the performance of job responsibilities
Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent
1 year of experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, or materials testing
Basic math skills
Ability to work independently
Nice to have:
Associates degree in a science discipline
Experience in routine testing (physical/mechanical, corrosion, and/or metallography)
