This position's internal job code is Spacecraft Mechanical Technician B. Our team is currently hiring for labor grade 15.

Job Responsibility

  • Assemble, install, test, checkout and inspect mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures
  • Visually inspect mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures
  • Operate a wide range of machine tools. Included but not limited to, drill press, grinders, chop saw, power, and hand tools
  • Mix and apply epoxy materials
  • Prepare and bond components to composite structures
  • Support other mechanical areas defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require
  • Perform incidental related duties as assigned or required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience reading basic blueprints
  • Experience following written and verbal work instructions
  • Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems
  • Experience with mechanical trouble shooting, disassembly and repair
  • Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis
  • Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time with only short breaks

Nice to have

  • More than 1 year of experience interpreting manufacturing blueprints
  • More than 1 year of experience mixing epoxy materials
  • More than 1 year of experience with the following types of hand tools (calipers, digital optical micrometers, depth gages, thread gages, go no go gages, etc.)
  • More than 1 year of experience with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, micro bonder, vacuum gauges and heat blankets
