Job Responsibility

  • Perform a variety of engineering assignments in project development, design changes, operations, installation, and maintenance of HVAC controls and building automation systems at the Kennedy Space Center
  • Support Mission Support Planning and coordination, equipment Operations and Maintenance, HVAC controls and building automation project planning, improvements, and mission test procedure development
  • Perform a range of maintenance and sustaining work step development, analysis, or review tasks
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to mechanical engineering
  • Provide onsite technical guidance as needed for new or existing equipment installation and/or modifications that require HVAC controls and building automation expertise
  • Revise and add new asset information in Maximo database for assigned equipment per MAR (Maintenance Action Request) process
  • Develop and maintain job plans and preventative maintenance schedules for assigned equipment
  • Address and justify preventive maintenance deferrals of assigned equipment
  • Conduct site visits to investigate system problems, propose solutions and provide recommendations to restore systems
  • Propose and develop improvement plans to address systemic problems and improve overall performance of the operating equipment
  • Support shop technicians in troubleshooting issues related to assigned equipment
  • Provide and review technical expertise for technical anomalies as they arise
  • Prepare and review Technical Anomaly reports and presentations documenting problems, concerns, and resolutions for assigned equipment
  • Be available to respond for emergency and relief assignments
  • Coordinate NASA and customer related mission activities to support the other customers/partners launch schedule
  • Participate in console and / or Red Crew operation during test and launch operations as needed
  • Develop and present or represent mission related presentations to the NASA and/or EGS customer as required
  • Perform readiness assessments of assigned equipment and systems
  • Provide input to and actively participate in applicable System Health and Readiness Program (SHARP) teams
  • Coordinate and work closely with requester, customers, other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements
  • Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from concept to final design and commissioning activities
  • Support development of technical proposals, statements of work and/or provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
  • Develop task order requirements to NASA to complete Operations & Maintenance Documentation (OMD) updates per specific, contracted timeframes
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with CAD drafters, Design Engineers, or shop personnel by written or verbal means
  • Interpret and provide guidance for assigned equipment using single line and schematic drawings
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Assess assigned systems and equipment for necessary upgrades to meet new code requirements or enhance operation
  • Provide mentorship to entry level engineers
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering discipline as identified in purpose & scope
  • Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (i.e. CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, SKM, ETAP, PLC interface software, etc.)
  • Capable of using spreadsheets, word processing and standard Microsoft Office software to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read and understand schematics & blueprints
  • Strong ability to use data and analysis to make fast data-driven decisions
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and reason
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain required clearances/badges as required by program and position
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
