As Mechanical Specialist in the days team at Skelmersdale, you’ll lead defined maintenance activities with a focus on mechanical systems. You’ll be accountable for the performance and reliability of machinery through preventative and predictive maintenance strategies. This hands-on role is central to our ambition of zero breakdowns and zero stops, and will contribute to both short-term performance and long-term asset development.
Job Responsibility
Mechanical maintenance leadership and planning
Technical support and coaching for operational colleagues
Performance management and continuous improvement of mechanical maintenance KPIs
System oversight via SAP (CMMS)
Contractor management and quality auditing
Team development and mentoring of junior technicians
Workshop excellence and health & safety adherence
Requirements
Completed a recognised multi-skilled or mechanical engineering apprenticeship, ideally with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3
Proven mechanical experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or process environments
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience maintaining complex automated manufacturing systems, including large rotating equipment and hydraulics
Skilled in planning, mentoring, and problem-solving, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines
Experience using SAP for maintenance planning and execution
