Selectek is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support a major internal plant expansion project at St. Marks Powder. This is a long-term assignment (3–5 years) focused on equipment specification, design review, installation management, and engineering analysis within an active manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will come from an industrial manufacturing, production, or engineering consulting background and will act as a hands-on project engineer supporting capital expansion efforts from concept through installation and commissioning.
Job Responsibility:
Apply mechanical engineering principles to design, install, modify, analyze, test, and troubleshoot industrial equipment and systems
Perform design reviews, prototyping evaluations, and manage equipment installations
Specify equipment and system components to meet operational and performance requirements
Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering reports
Collaborate with engineers, vendors, contractors, and plant personnel to implement operating procedures and resolve system issues
Research and analyze customer and vendor design proposals, specifications, manuals, and technical data to evaluate feasibility, cost, reliability, and maintenance requirements
Ensure systems and equipment conform to engineering design standards and performance specifications
Investigate equipment failures, diagnose root causes, and provide recommendations to maintenance and operations teams
Support capital project execution, including coordination of vendors and installation contractors
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a consulting, manufacturing, or production environment
Proven experience with: Equipment specification and procurement
Design review and engineering analysis
Managing equipment installations in industrial facilities
Strong understanding of industrial equipment, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes
Ability to work on-site in an active production environment
Background must be from industrial manufacturing or engineering consulting (government or state agency experience is not a fit)
Nice to have:
Experience supporting plant expansions or capital projects
Familiarity with industrial process equipment and heavy manufacturing environments
Strong communication and coordination skills with internal teams and external vendors
