Job Description

To contribute to the NSG Site Construction Operations function by ensuring the successful delivery of projects in full alignment with established safety, quality, environmental, and security standards, as well as contractual requirements. This role is fully site‑based and forms an integral part of a multidisciplinary construction team. Acting as a vital link between off‑site engineering and on‑site execution.

Job Responsibility

  • Undertake studies and develop solutions to deliver the projects end point requirements
  • Prepare documentation to support project delivery (Control Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, LTQR documentation)
  • Liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers to identify services, plant and equipment
  • Liaise with procurement to ensure services, plant and equipment are procured
  • Management and assist with construction documentation
  • Raise and close out TQ’s in collaboration with Engineers, Designers and Project Managers
  • Liaise with supervisors to support the co-ordination and management of operatives and technicians
  • Manage operatives and technicians as required
  • Ensure and promote effective communication and working between disciplines
  • Support the Construction / Site Manager in management activities, provision of programme information, cost information, risk identification, stakeholder liaison, and sub-contract management
  • Ensure personal, professional, technical and engineering competency through continuing professional development
  • Understand technical aspects and develop design and engineering solutions
  • Consolidation and collation of design and engineering documentation
  • Support mechanical system installations (HVAC, pipework, plant equipment)
  • Assist in mechanical isolation procedures and ensure compliance
  • Support mechanical testing and commissioning activities
  • Support mechanical quality documentation
  • Support LOLER compliance for lifting operations
  • Coordinate with Appointed Persons & Facility for mechanical systems

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline - desirable
  • Membership of appropriate technical / professional body - desirable
  • Relevant on Site management Qualifications SMSTS, SSSTS - essential
  • Relevant Level 3 qualifications in relevant discipline - essential
  • Relevant Design Qualifications in relevant discipline - essential
  • Understanding of the Project lifecycle and how projects are delivered within NSG - desirable
  • Basic understanding of the UK Nuclear Industry - essential
  • Understanding of the radiological controls used within the type of projects delivered by NSG - desirable
  • Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information - essential
  • Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc - essential
  • Knowledge of HVAC, pipework, and mechanical plant systems - essential
  • Understanding of PSSR and pressure system requirements - desirable
  • Proven on site experience in discipline 5+ Years - essential
  • Experience in mechanical design and using mechanical design software such as auto cad, BIM etc - desirable
  • Competent user of MS Office - essential
  • Ability to organise own work and effectively delivery under the guidance of a Project Manager - essential
  • Ability to prepare and present reports, documentation and information in support of project delivery - essential
