Suppliers Here are the prequalifying questions /answers. 1. How did you qualify the mold? What steps did you take? Answer should be somewhere along the lines of: viscosity study, ran a DOE (design of experiments), gate freeze study 2. What is flash? Answer: Flash is a thin layer of excess plastic that flows outside of the mold's cavity and into the parting line, the space between the two mold halves. 3. How do you eliminate flash? a. Reduce pack/hold pressure. Use a press with higher clamp force. Reduce clamp tonnage. b. Welding on tool if it’s worn out. Obviously do not share the answers with the candidates and I want answers that are expanded so we can see their knowledge
