Our client, a titan in the steel manufacturing industry, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor for their Edmonton facility. This isn't just a desk job—this is a role for a 'boots-on-the-ground' leader who can mentor a skilled team of Millwrights and ensure the mechanical reliability of a complex industrial area. As a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you will be the driving force behind safe execution, root cause analysis, and the continuous improvement of maintenance systems within the plant.
Job Responsibility:
Team Leadership: Manage a crew of Millwrights and other trades, ensuring full compliance with safety codes and high-performance standards
Reliability Management: Take ownership of mechanical equipment uptime, identifying root causes of failures and implementing long-term corrective actions
Shutdown Execution: Lead scheduled shutdowns and manage daily down-day plans to minimize production interruptions
System Development: Build and refine area maintenance procedures, PM programs, and condition-based maintenance protocols
Safety Mentorship: Enforce 'zero-harm' practices and mentor the team on safe work procedures in a high-pressure environment
Performance Management: Oversee employee attendance, performance reviews, and training requirements
Requirements:
Journeyperson Millwright Certification OR a post-secondary degree with a Mechanical Engineering focus
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role within an industrial setting
Strong experience working with a CMMS for work order management and asset tracking
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to organize priorities and meet tight deadlines under pressure
Ability to pass a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol test and a criminal background check
