Are you a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced production environment? Do you enjoy fault-finding, improving machinery performance, and keeping production running at peak efficiency? If so, this could be the role for you. You’ll play a key role in ensuring production machinery is maintained, repaired, and improved to the highest standard — minimising downtime and maximising output. Working closely with engineering, production, suppliers, and contractors, you’ll be a trusted problem-solver on site.
Job Responsibility:
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on plant and production equipment
Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults
Install, relocate, and improve production machinery
Read and interpret mechanical drawings
Specify, order, and book in spare parts
Complete maintenance records, timesheets, and associated paperwork
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, engineers, and internal departments
Support stock takes and continuous improvement activities
Maintain the highest standards of health & safety at all times
Requirements:
Recognised Mechanical qualification (NVQ / City & Guilds / BTEC / HNC or similar)
Experience in a high-speed, high-pressure production environment
Background in printing or carton manufacturing desirable
Experience with Packaging machinery ideally Cut & Crease, or Folder Gluers an advantage
PC literate with basic Excel and Word skills
Multi-skilled, reliable, and highly conscientious
Calm under pressure with strong organisational skills
Proactive, “can-do” attitude with excellent problem-solving ability
Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
Flexible with working hours and overtime when required
Nice to have:
Background in printing or carton manufacturing
Experience with Packaging machinery ideally Cut & Crease, or Folder Gluers
