The Mechanical Laboratory Technician role is focused on hands-on support of eDrive system development. The position involves active participation in mechanical testing, test bench operation and laboratory activities throughout the product development cycle. The technician will work closely with engineers, contributing to test execution, data collection, and continuous improvement of laboratory setups and processes.
Job Responsibility:
Preparation, construction, and development of laboratory test benches, as well as support in commissioning new test setups
Planning and execution of mechanical tests of components and electric drive units for electric vehicles
Support for NVH, cooling, and lubrication tests, including basic analysis of test observations
Assembly of test samples, fixtures, sensors, and measurement equipment in accordance with test specifications
Calibration of measurement equipment and coordination of equipment shipments for external calibration
Ensuring proper operation of test equipment, performing technical inspections, and ongoing maintenance of laboratory assets
Purchasing parts and materials required for testing and supporting the completion of test bench equipment
Creation and update of laboratory instructions, procedures, and safety standards
Close cooperation with engineers during test program execution and eDrive product development
Maintaining order, good work organization, and a high level of safety in the laboratory
Requirements:
Technical education in the field of mechanics, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
Experience as a laboratory technician or in a similar role related to mechanical testing
Hands-on experience in conducting mechanical tests
Ability to work with technical documentation and a communicative level of English
Proficiency in MS Office
Awareness of health and safety (BHP) regulations and willingness to actively support safety standards in the laboratory
Nice to have:
A university degree will be an additional advantage
Experience working with automotive components
knowledge of powertrain systems will be a strong asset
Knowledge of CAD software will be an advantage
Practical experience with measurement equipment, sensors, and basic metrology will be an asset
Experience in cooling and lubrication testing, including interpretation of basic measurement results
Hands-on experience in building or modifying test benches and simple test fixtures
Interest in electromobility and eDrive product development
SEP certification (nice to have)
License to operate electric forklift trucks (nice to have)
