Job Responsibility:
Preparation of work scopes
Isolations
Handover to and from operations
Completion of work activities
Commissioning
Initial running checks and alignments
Component change outs
Routine and ad hoc maintenance requirements
Liaise with internal and external work parties to safely complete tasks to required quality and service levels
Optimise the performance of the process and equipment by installing, repairing, commissioning and testing equipment and components
Effective and efficient completion of tasks whilst upholding environmental, health and safety standards
Utilise skills, technical knowledge and methodologies to identify and eliminate waste
May also direct contractors and audit work quality
All of the above will be in alignment of Portland Aluminium’s Reliability Excellence (REX) and Alcoa Business Systems (ABS) methodologies
Requirements:
Mechanical - Fitter & Turner - Trade (Australian Apprenticeship, Tradesperson’s Rights Certificate or equivalent)
Advanced skills and knowledge necessary to isolate, diagnose, analyse and rectify complex equipment related problems
Problem-solving is a major component of this position and an essential skill requirement, along with good communication and interpersonal skills to provide technical advice and direction
High levels of initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Previous experience in heavy manufacturing / industrial or continuous production environment is considered advantageous
Commitment to environment, health and safety in the workplace and a willingness to participate in safety improvement initiatives is essential
