Job Description

I am currently working with a well-established manufacturing plant that is looking to strengthen its maintenance team with the addition of an experienced Mechanical Fitter. This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. The Mechanical Fitter will be working on a wide range of mechanical equipment and supporting the reliability and performance of the plant. The role is ideal for a time served Mechanical Fitter who enjoys fault finding, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities.

Job Responsibility

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across manufacturing equipment
  • Maintain and overhaul pumps, valves, pipework and associated equipment
  • Conduct equipment inspections and reliability improvement activities
  • Support plant shutdowns and maintenance projects
  • Complete maintenance documentation and work orders
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures including permit to work systems and lock out/tag out procedures

Requirements

  • Apprentice Trained Mechanical Fitter
  • At least 2 year’s Mechanical Fitting experience
  • Experience working within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong Mechanical fault finding and repair skills
  • Experience maintaining pumps and valves
  • Experience carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures within an industrial environment
