We’re looking for a Mechanical Field Service Engineer to support three operational gas peaking plants across the West of England. This is a permanent, field-based role reporting to the Mechanical Technical Lead. You’d be joining an organisation who are an independent power producer, with an energy portfolio of over 25GW across 10+ countries, including Solar, Wind, Energy Storage and Biomass technologies. As a Mechanical Field Service Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and optimising critical mechanical systems across multiple sites. You’ll act as the on-the-ground technical specialist, ensuring plant reliability, supporting maintenance strategies and responding to operational issues. This role suits a hands-on engineer with strong diagnostic capability and experience in energy generation environments.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
Diagnose faults and restore plant availability quickly
Support outage and breakdown activities
Act as mechanical SME across all three sites
Support site teams with troubleshooting and issue resolution
Escalate complex issues where required
Identify reliability and performance issues
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
Work in line with site safety procedures and standards
Maintain accurate maintenance records
Requirements:
Experience in mechanical maintenance within power generation or heavy industry
Strong fault-finding skills on rotating equipment and engines
