Job Description:

The Mechanical/Equipment Engineer II is responsible for independently designing, analyzing, and supporting mechanical systems and manufacturing equipment. This role contributes to cross-functional project teams by owning subsystem designs, supporting equipment commissioning and process improvements, and developing documentation to support prototype through production environments. This position demonstrates growing systems-level thinking and technical ownership.

Job Responsibility:

  • Independently design fixtures, tools, and subsystems with minimal supervision
  • Conduct mechanical analysis (thermal, dynamic, stress) to support equipment and system performance
  • Own and document fixture and subsystem designs, including tolerances, drawings, and specifications
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for manufacturing fixtures and tooling
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate equipment and process performance
  • Support equipment commissioning activities, including startup planning and acceptance testing (FAT/SAT)
  • Identify and implement equipment and process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, process, quality, facilities) to meet technical objectives
  • Support root cause analysis and resolution of equipment and process issues during prototype builds and early production
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles in equipment and system designs
  • Develop and maintain engineering and equipment documentation in compliance with quality system requirements
  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3+ years of related experience in mechanical, equipment, or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience with mechanical system design, manufacturing equipment, or automation preferred
  • Working knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Creo
  • Experience supporting cross-functional project teams in fast-paced environments
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values
