The Mechanical Engineering Technician 1 supports laboratory testing and chemical handling within a safety-conscious environment. This role focuses on maintaining accurate documentation, following established protocols, and ensuring compliance with laboratory and documentation best practices. The technician will handle bleach-based wipes and isopropyl alcohol while adhering to safety procedures and PPE use.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure compliance with Documentation Best Practices by maintaining accurate, thorough, and organized records of tests performed, including manual data recording and computer input
Adhere to Good Laboratory Best Practices and safety procedures to maintain a safe, efficient work environment
Safely handle chemicals and cleaners such as bleach-based wipes and isopropyl alcohol, following all safety protocols and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including lab coat, gloves, and protective eyewear
Follow established protocols and training accurately
recognize deviations from test methods or unexpected results
Communicate observations or anomalies found during testing clearly and promptly
Monitor test progress and keep requestors informed
Collaborate effectively with team members and adapt to protocol or procedural changes as needed
Identify the need for escalation to supervisors and test owners when necessary
Requirements:
Ability to handle chemicals and laboratory materials safely with appropriate training (training will be provided)
Familiarity with documentation and laboratory best practices is beneficial
Experience working within safety regulations and chemical handling procedures preferred but not mandatory
Strong attention to detail and patience, especially for repetitive tasks
Effective verbal, written, listening, and reading skills in English
Ability to communicate observations clearly and maintain open communication with team members
Ability to recognize deviations and act accordingly, including escalation when appropriate
Collaboration and adaptability to changes in protocols or procedures
Basic computer skills for data input and record-keeping
High School diploma required
Effectiveness in verbal, written, listening, and reading English skills
Ability to follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE
Physical capability to perform laboratory and chemical handling tasks safely and reliably
