Job Description

We are seeking a Product Development Tech for our San Diego, CA facility. This person will contribute to the completion of routine technical tasks and develop solutions to routine technical problems of specified scope. Primary contacts include immediate supervisors, project leaders, and other professionals in the unit.

Job Responsibility

  • Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
  • Produce engineering documents, reports, and drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
  • Prepare reports and summaries, including quantitative analysis
  • Complete routine technical tasks and provide technical support to engineers
  • Help scope equipment for use and complete qualifications
  • Assist with general lab functions, including calibration, safety procedures implementation, and routine equipment maintenance
  • Notify manager or team lead of factors that may affect the project
  • Help develop prototype processes and test set-ups
  • Execute designed test protocols and conduct testing
  • Document and communicate test results effectively
  • Support hardware debugging

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a lab environment (corporate or school) or technician experience in a regulated environment
  • Experience following written procedures and working collaboratively with a team
  • Minimum education requirement: High school diploma
  • Ability to understand and perform designed test procedures
  • Effective communication skills within a cross-functional group and with the lab team and extended team members
  • Ability to develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope
  • Proficiency in using personal computers
  • Ability to train lower-level technicians
  • Competence in documenting and communicating test results
