Job Description:

Beacon Biosignals is on a mission to revolutionize precision medicine for the brain. We are the leading at-home EEG platform supporting clinical development of novel therapeutics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders. Our FDA 510(k)-cleared Waveband EEG headband and AI algorithms enable quantitative biomarker discovery and implementation. Beacon’s Clinico-EEG database contains EEG data from nearly 100,000 patients, and our cloud-native analytics platform powers large-scale RWD/RWE retrospective and predictive studies. Beacon Biosignals is changing the way that patients are treated for any disorder that affects brain physiology.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and maintain hardware in accordance with Beacon’s QMS
  • Perform design, development, and analysis of mechanical subsystems
  • Maintain existing Bills of Materials, drawings, documentation, and overall design configurations using CAD and PLM tools
  • Perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical issues arising during production or in the field
  • Create visual mockups and proof-of-concept builds that connect early ideas to working prototypes
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up and DFM analyses as part of the design transfer to manufacturing
  • Support system-level test activities
  • Contribute to product ideation, development, integration verification, and manufacturing
  • Document design and production processes in accordance with applicable product development procedures, quality, and regulatory requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience with a BS degree or 3+ years of professional engineering experience with an MS degree
  • Experience designing within cross-functional engineering teams
  • Ability to perform engineering analyses in 2D and 3D
  • Fluency in SolidWorks
  • Strong analytical background, with a detailed understanding of mechanical design for injection molding
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience with GD&T, mastery being considered a strong advantage
  • Experience with industrial design and UX design
  • Knowledge of design controls and regulations for medical devices
  • Experience with wearables or other products featuring fabrics and elastomers
