Carex is partnering with a Manufacturing industry partner to identify a Mechanical Engineer who will support manufacturing operations through the design, development, and implementation of equipment, tooling, and process improvements. This role will lead capital projects, evaluate and enhance existing manufacturing systems, and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and maintenance teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience, technical expertise in mechanical engineering, and a hands-on approach to solving complex manufacturing challenges.
Job Responsibility
Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and equipment to improve worker safety, product quality, production yields, and throughput
Lead the specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of new capital equipment for manufacturing operations
Partner with manufacturing engineering and maintenance teams to transition equipment from development and project stages into full-scale production
Design and develop new manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes to support new product introductions and evolving production requirements
Provide technical support to manufacturing and maintenance teams by troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions
Design, specify, and procure tooling required for product development and manufacturing improvement initiatives
Collaborate with product design engineering teams to identify and implement incremental product improvements
Support preventative maintenance initiatives by working closely with maintenance personnel to ensure equipment reliability and performance
Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure established procedures, work instructions, and best practices are followed consistently
Manage engineering projects from planning and scope definition through execution and delivery
Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and technical specifications
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
7+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
Proven experience managing projects from initial planning and scope definition through successful implementation and completion
Experience leading capital expenditure (CapEx) projects
Familiarity with industrial facility construction is a plus
Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication abilities
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
Team-oriented mindset with an open-minded and collaborative approach to achieving business objectives
