Redwire Space, LLC has a current opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer (willing to consider all mid to senior levels) to join our advanced design team located at our facility in Albuquerque, NM. Job Responsibility:
Review and establish program requirements
Functionally own specific mechanical systems and coordinate cross team interactions for those systems
Develop and track schedules and meet deadlines
Develop 3D mechanism designs primarily in SolidWorks
Select materials and surface treatments
Perform preliminary analysis
Create manufacturing drawings using GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5
Create design review packages typically using Microsoft Power Point
Create and maintain requirements compliance matrixes in Microsoft Excel or Jama
Create assembly and build documentation in Microsoft Word
Intelligently defend your designs to engineers and customers
Directly assemble prototype and flight hardware in a laboratory environment
Assemble sensors and operate test equipment
Follow internal Quality Assurance (QA) processes and procedures in compliance with AS9100 standards
Provide feedback and recommendations for improving our internal QA processes and procedures
Interface with customers, subcontractors, and manufacturers
Operate in a dynamic, fast paced, and multidisciplinary environment
Take pride in courteous behavior and professional communication
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with 5 or more years of related work experience in Aerospace, Space, Energy, Semiconductor, Subsea, or other high reliability industries
Experienced with SolidWorks
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing
Familiarity with materials and surface treatments for use in space
Experienced with mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals
Some limited travel may be required
Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to obtain and hold a security clearance
Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Nice to have:
Master’s degree in engineering preferred
Familiarity with NASA standards, range safety, and launch vehicle user guides
Ability to calculate the reliability of mechanical devices
Highly proficient with Solidworks (1000+ hours), Solidworks PDM a plus
