The Mechanical Engineer provides engineering design, technical review, and construction support for mechanical systems associated with facility and infrastructure projects in support of Beale Air Force Base. This is a one-year contract and can be onsite, however, this listing is for the remote position (the client is located at Beale AFB, California). The Mechanical Engineer supports the planning, design, and evaluation of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fuel distribution, and building mechanical systems to ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and operational requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Provide mechanical engineering support for construction and infrastructure projects at Beale Air Force Base
Assist with design, analysis, and evaluation of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and fuel distribution systems
Support development and review of mechanical design drawings, calculations, and technical specifications
Develop and review construction cost estimates using RSMeans, PACES, E4Clicks, or equivalent estimating tools
Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs), ASHRAE standards, ASTM standards, NFPA codes, and other applicable mechanical design standards
Evaluate HVAC systems, building automation systems, and energy performance considerations
Support analysis of domestic water distribution systems, plumbing systems, and mechanical infrastructure
Assist with constructability reviews and technical issue resolution during construction execution
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to support project planning and execution
Provide technical support during planning, design, and construction phases
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college
U.S. Citizenship required
Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience supporting mechanical system design, review, or construction
Experience developing construction estimates using RSMeans, PACES, E4Clicks, or equivalent tools
Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards
Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following systems: Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems
HVAC controls and building automation systems
Plumbing systems
Fire protection systems
Domestic water distribution and storage
Fuel distribution and storage systems
Experience supporting constructability reviews, technical issue resolution, and coordination during construction execution
Nice to have:
Professional Engineer (PE) license (active or eligible)
