The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design and development of lithium-ion battery modules and packs. The position requires review and analysis of component requirements, executing and evaluating designs, performing design analysis, overseeing MCAD design, supporting DV/PV testing, and supporting complex engineering projects. This position will consult with managers as needed.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting and designing new products and components including plastic injection molded parts, die castings, investment castings, stampings, machined components, etc.
Working collaboratively with manufacturing to ensure designs are feasible from a manufacturing viewpoint
Supporting validation in identifying root cause and corrective action on test failures
Identifying and implementing VAVE cost reductions
Conducting experiments methodically, analyzing data and interpreting results
Working with: Automotive design
Root cause analysis
Drawing Dimensioning using GD&T and conducting tolerance stack-up analysis
developing and tracing of requirements
Requirements:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus 3 years of experience in the field of automotive engineering
Hands on knowledge of 3D CAD, such as Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or Catia
Experience in FEA for stress, and structural analysis
deep mechanical aptitude, including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical properties and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials
Experience in mechanism design and executing design fixes to optimize performance and manufacturability
Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and deliver results
collaborating closely with validation, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality engineering teams
Ability to balance component, sub-system requirements versus technical constraints and cost targets
Ability to problem-solve and be creative, self-motivated, methodical, and focused
flexible attitude, and innovation capability to conceptualize, develop, and implement novel engineering solutions
