The Mechanical Engineer will report to the N4S & Equipment Pressure Compliance Manager and will take responsibility for managing the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements on behalf of a specific scope identified by the Programme Pressure Compliance Team Leader, ensuring appropriate implementation and compliance to meet HPC project needs. The role holder will support the implementation of pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements within specific projects, on behalf of a specific programme. They will support the project managers in ensuring compliance and delivery for HPC. The role will require good technical and organisational capabilities to effectively interface with Project Managers and relevant stakeholders in the programme, the ONR, third party organisations and support the supply chain in delivery. Their team and role will act as the single point of contact for pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements - through all phases of the project and for the various project policies, for their allocated scope. The role will require frequent trips abroad (mostly mainland Europe).
Job Responsibility:
Support the development and maintenance of the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements for their appointed work scope
Ensure that project policies, processes and contracts are implemented and delivered to the right quality to manage pressure systems regulation and structural integrity safety case requirements
Responsible for arbitration and technical decisions on HPC's behalf in regards to pressure systems regulation and structural integrity compliance for their programme
Manage on behalf of the Programme Pressure Compliance Team Leader the pressure systems compliance and structural integrity requirements
Maintain personnel SQEP status to support nuclear baseline requirements
Requirements:
Degree qualified in a related Engineering or Science based discipline
Relevant Experience in large scale project or asset management within a highly regulated industry sector as Power Generation, Nuclear Industry or Oil &Gas / Petro-Chemical
Relevant experiences in relation with the engineering topics associated to pressure systems manufacture, installation, structural integrity and conformity assessment
Experience in multi-cultural industrial projects
Nice to have:
Chartered Member of appropriate professional institution would be a plus (IMeche Preferred), or capable of being chartered
Knowledge of the nuclear industry and EDF group would be a plus
Knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to plant in the UK would be a plus
