Meta’s Hardware engineers are at the forefront of innovation, driving the design and development of hardware systems that power the future of human connection. Across Infrastructure, Reality Labs, Robotics, and Research, our teams tackle complex challenges in consumer electronics, data centers, advanced robotics, opto-mechanical systems, and more. We bring together cross-disciplinary minds to invent, prototype, and deliver products and platforms that connect billions of people worldwide. As an Engineer at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in the specification, design, prototyping, and deployment of cutting-edge hardware systems. You will collaborate with world-class teams across engineering disciplines—including electrical, optical, firmware, software, and industrial design—to deliver innovative solutions for wearable devices, robotics, infrastructure, and research initiatives. Your work could span the full product lifecycle, from concept inception and feasibility studies to mass production and deployment.
Job Responsibility:
Mechanical Design: Independently manage and deliver medium-complexity mechanical assemblies or subsystems, driving technical solutions from concept to production
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external partners, including supply chain, manufacturing, and cross-disciplinary engineering teams
Prototyping & Testing: Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
conduct feasibility studies and failure analysis
Product Development Cycle: Drive projects from early concept through prototyping, validation, and mass production, supporting manufacturing partners worldwide
Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction, mentor junior engineers, and influence program strategy and execution
Innovation: Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solve complex mechanical problems in consumer electronics, robotics, infrastructure, and research
Documentation & Communication: Generate and manage technical documentation, specifications, and clear communication across teams and stakeholders
Travel: Support manufacturing and development activities with travel to external vendors and partners as needed
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
6+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, including shipping high-volume commercial products or complex electromechanical assemblies
Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, Creo)
Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Working knowledge of material properties (plastics, metals, adhesives, glass, PCBA, flex circuits, etc.)
Experience with high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, injection molding, die casting, etc.)
Testing and analysis experience (FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments, etc.)
Nice to have:
End-to-end experience from concept creation to deployment of a product
Experience in designing and manufacturing sheetmetal enclosures
Experience in designing and manufacturing plastic, die cast, extrusion and machined parts
Experience optimizing product designs using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for shock and vibe, thermal, and certification performance
6+ years of experience designing and shipping data center system equipment. Rack level design experience is preferred
Familiar with AI, server, storage, network, machine learning systems, rack & power
Experience with owning a complete hardware system as a mechanical engineering lead
Experience with a variety of electronic interconnection types and their various performance pros and cons
