Job Description:

Bring your creativity and engineering expertise to Realta Fusion, where bold ideas become reality. As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be part of a fast-moving team developing breakthrough fusion technology. The Mechanical Engineer will work with Realta’s engineering and scientific teams to provide critical engineering and design input on Realta’s technology development roadmap. The Mechanical Engineer will be a critical contributor to Anvil – Realta’s reactor scale simple magnetic mirror and primary technology development platform – and Realta’s first-of-a-kind fusion pilot plant, Hammir.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to the design and development of primary and secondary mechanical fusion components and subsystems
  • Work with core system-level development teams to define prototyping requirements
  • Produce mechanical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and parameters from the physics basis with appropriate tolerances for vendor quoting and manufacturing
  • Perform thermal, structural, and electromagnetic analysis and simulation using Ansys and COMSOL to develop, assess, and optimize designs
  • Incorporate design for manufacturing principles and support first builds
  • Support the design and implementation of tooling and manufacturing
  • Supply hands-on support in fabrication and assembly of prototype and laboratory systems, up to and including operating machine shop equipment
  • Design and execute qualification testing
  • Synthesize and present technical work internally and externally, communicate daily with project teams and leadership to support programmatic needs
  • Contribute to the establishment of company safety standards and lead implementation of these standards within R&D and Engineering team

Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, plus 3-5 years’ work experience
  • Experience with current CAD software tools (Solidworks, NX, Creo, etc.) and engineering analysis software (COMSOL, Ansys etc.)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, public presentation) to collaborate effectively with colleagues, external partners, and stakeholders
