Job Description

The Hardware Department is at the heart of developing our high-performance and innovative robots. It's in charge of designing, constructing, and optimizing the robot's physical components, including mechanical parts, sensors, and electrical systems. The team collaborates closely with other departments, like software development and product management, to ensure that the hardware aligns seamlessly with software and system requirements. This involves tasks like mechanical design and prototyping of components, using CAD tools and 3D printing technologies.

  • Design of new powerful and lightweight robotic actuators and structural parts
  • Finding innovative materials for robotics
  • Design of both the outer shell and appearance of 4NE-1
  • Finding new joint mechanisms
  • Technical drawings of parts

Requirements

  • Bachelor, Master's, or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Software (ideally Creo)
  • Experience in manufacturing of parts, including party made of aluminum and plastics
  • Excellent and clear communication with suppliers, including bill of material and technical drawings
  • Experience in the (industrial) design of complex machines
  • Experience in the (industrial) design of electrical motors and gearboxes
  • You have a perfect command of the English language and, best of all, speak German well

  • Define safety concepts and requirements to support risk reduction measures
  • Define, manage and ensure full traceability of system requirements, aligning with product safety and robot safety standards
  • Ensure that systems and subsystems' designs meet robot safety, functional safety, and product safety requirements
  • Manage safety requirements across the entire robot platform using requirement management tools
  • Work closely with product design, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to embed safety into the core design
