The Mechanical Engineer 1 is responsible for supporting our single-use technology product line. Duties include design, qualification, manufacturing support, quality support, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will have an emphasis on the sustainment and support of current products.
Job Responsibility:
Work within a technical team responsible for single use bag design, component and fitting design and qualification, quality and manufacturing support, continuous improvement initiatives, and support of current product
Engage in all phases of product development and change management for products and assemblies, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support
Manage assigned work within projects and align with team on scope, costs, budgets, and timelines
Collaborate with project teams to develop product specifications and requirements including component and assembly geometry, identification of materials, and establish acceptable performance standards
Perform modeling, complex calculations, analyses, and testing to verify assumptions
Construction and testing of prototype disposables, pilot products, and conduct analysis of the test results performed through verification and validation activities
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field
Recent graduate with experience in an engineering role
Exposure to design development and manufacturing processes associated with plastic components as well as finished assemblies, including injection molding, extrusion, blown/cast films, heat sealing technologies, design for manufacturability
Experience in planning, performing, and analyzing verification activities (test protocols, test plans, test execution, data interpretation, data analysis, reporting)
Applied knowledge of engineering principles and reliability analysis techniques in product design
Software proficiency: CAD (SolidWorks), MS office programs
Nice to have:
Designing, developing, and qualifying single-use products for customers in biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, or similar regulated industries
Exposure to biocompatibility, leachable & extractable, and sterilization techniques for various polymeric materials
Knowledge and understanding of design risk assessment techniques including Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
