Job Description

Coherent Technical Services, Inc. (CTSi) is seeking a skilled Mechanical Drafter to join our engineering and fabrication team. The ideal candidate will support product development and manufacturing efforts by producing accurate, production-ready drawings, CAD Files, and support documentation. This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while collaborating closely with engineering, fabrication, and CNC machining teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Create detailed 2D drawings, CAD, and support documentation using AutoCAD, SolidWORKS, or Inventor and Microsoft products
  • Develop and maintain fully dimensioned production drawings and fabrication packages
  • Support fabrication and machining operations through accurate drawings and specifications
  • Maintain drawing standards including GD&T and revision control
  • Coordinate with engineering, shop personnel, and program teams throughout the manufacturing lifecycle

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Technical Drafting Courses a plus
  • 5 years of experience
  • Demonstrated Understanding Of: Sheet metal design, flat pattern development, and generate CAD models to support manufacturing proposals and execution
  • Experience Creating: Fully dimensioned, production-ready drawings
  • Assembly drawings with Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Cut lists and fabrication callouts
  • Software Requirements: Preferably SolidWORKs or Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD is a plus
  • Additional experience with Fusion 360, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, or CATIA is acceptable
  • Work Style: Ability to work independently
  • Comfortable supporting on-site manufacturing operations and quoting team
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a security clearance

Nice to have

  • Drafting/design experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Direct support experience with metal fabrication, CNC machining, or precision product manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and fabrication best practices
