Job Description

As a Mechanical Diesel Fitter at Wilmar Sugar and Renewables, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our critical locomotive fleet and mobile plant. This position will be based at Pioneer Mill in North Queensland's Burdekin region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community. The Burdekin region offers a fantastic lifestyle with a warm climate, beautiful beaches and a range of recreational activities, making it a great place to live and work. This position follows a year-round day work roster pattern and may require some weekend work and overtime.

Job Responsibility

  • Carry out checks and inspections of operating plant and equipment including Loco’s/Break vans as a preventative maintenance measure
  • Install, fault find, adjust, repair and maintain machinery as required to keep the plant operating efficiently
  • Work in conjunction and communicate effectively with Mobile Supervisor, Reliability team and the Cane Supply & Transport Supervisors and Drivers
  • Oversee trade assistant. Provide trade guidance and assistance as part of a work team
  • Show a strong commitment to safety

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (Diesel Fitter) or Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence

  • EWP High Risk Work licence
