Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to support a strategic project focused on the delocalisation of mechanical product manufacturing to China. The ideal candidate will be responsible for redesigning and adapting existing mechanical components, ensuring manufacturability with Chinese suppliers, and supporting the engineering transfer process across borders. This role requires a strong background in mechanical design, industrial production standards, and international project coordination.

Job Responsibility:

Review and analyse existing mechanical product designs made in Italy
Redesign and optimise components to suit manufacturing capabilities and material availability in China
Ensure compliance with international mechanical design and safety standards
Prepare detailed technical drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and documentation for manufacturing transfer
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, quality, and manufacturing
Communicate with suppliers and production teams in China to validate feasibility, tolerances, and cost efficiency
Support the prototyping, testing, and validation phases in the new production site
Identify and resolve potential design or production challenges during the transition
Maintain documentation for traceability and future reference

Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial equipment or components
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles and cost optimisation techniques
Experience with international supply chains and manufacturing in China is highly preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage timelines in a project-driven environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Italian and Mandarin are a plus

Nice to have:

Previous experience in product industrialisation and design transfer projects
Understanding of European and Chinese mechanical standards and certifications
Willingness to travel occasionally between Italy and China during key project phases
