Job Responsibility

  • Prepare detailed HVAC system designs
  • Perform engineering calculations
  • Coordinate with project teams
  • Support projects through construction
  • Design basic HVAC systems with guidance, including air distribution systems, hydronic systems, steam systems, and control systems
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation calculations, and system sizing calculations
  • Size, select, and schedule mechanical HVAC equipment
  • Layout equipment rooms and coordinate air and hydronic distribution systems with other building systems
  • Participate in coordination with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines
  • Review contractor product data submittals and shop drawings and assist with construction administration activities
  • Attend construction site walk-throughs with senior engineers and contribute to field observation reports
  • Independently perform mechanical design tasks on assigned projects
  • Compare and evaluate alternative design solutions
  • Assess existing equipment and systems on renovation projects and support integration of new systems
  • Edit project specifications and contribute to project documentation
  • Support project delivery and serve as project lead on smaller projects as assigned
  • Continue developing technical expertise through training, professional networks, and industry involvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution required
  • 2+ years of AEC industry experience
  • Experience in MEP consulting demonstrating project-level skills
  • Aptitude for designing HVAC systems, air distribution systems, and hydronic systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with team members, clients, and vendors
  • Organized, flexible, self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred, with intent to obtain Professional Engineer licensure within three years
