Job Description

Applies an in depth understanding of design processes, tools, systems and techniques to an extensive range of design solutions associated with complex assemblies, components or systems. Is able to develop design solutions from the bottom up with limited information, applying the various design requirements to achieve appropriate design solutions. Working as part of a multi-functional team, the successful applicant will be currently working in a senior designer role and have many years’ experience of using CAD software to create 2D and 3D solid modelled designs, for a wide range of products from small components to large complex sub-systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Take the Lead Design Engineers conceptual information or component list and develop into a detailed design and data pack that is suitable for manufacture
  • Manage the engineering/manufacturing interface through the relevant manufacturing processes
  • Oversee the various production/assembly practices associated with the manufacture of that equipment
  • Identifying long-lead piece parts
  • Working with the Manufacturing Technicians to consider manufacturing improvements
  • Liaise with sub-contract manufacturers or suppliers
  • Manage the Engineering Change for their area of responsibility against a robust change management process
  • Create 2D and 3D solid modelled designs, for a wide range of products from small components to large complex sub-systems
  • Create conceptual design schemes from engineering information
  • Support first off build activities
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings of piece parts and assembly drawings
  • Implement design changes
  • Provide input into engineering estimates
  • Work to company standards, processes and guidelines
  • Provide post-delivery support and resolve obsolescence issues

Requirements

  • Apply knowledge and experience of engineering design principles and practices to the design and detail of Radar mechanical components, sub-assemblies and assemblies
