Job Description

A respected manufacturer of precision defense equipment is seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our production team. This hands-on role involves assembling, aligning, and testing machinery and components according to engineering specifications and safety standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Assemble and test mechanical equipment and subassemblies according to engineering drawings and procedures
  • Fit, align, and secure parts, motors, pumps, and piping connections using proper tools and fasteners
  • Perform drilling, tapping, and minor metal fitting for precision assembly
  • Visually inspect parts and assemblies for fit, alignment, and surface defects
  • Conduct operational tests to ensure product quality and functionality
  • Record production data, maintain checklists, and complete timekeeping documentation
  • Move finished units using forklifts and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with supervisors and engineering teams to resolve assembly or design issues

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–6 years of experience in mechanical repair, machine assembly, or industrial equipment assembly
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and safety manuals
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Forklift Operator Certification preferred
  • VantageClear Certification (or equivalent security credential) required

  • Mount and brace horizontal and vertical bus, risers and bus supports inside structures in sequential order
  • Use a variety of manufacturing equipment, high power torque tools, jigs/fixtures and fabrication machines such as punch presses and band saws
  • Construct pallets following engineering design requirements
  • Ensure strong assembly fundamentals are used at all times (ie., use of proper hardware, applying correct torque, using consistent fastening methods, checking tool calibration)
  • Identify design issues in mechanical and electrical schematics and raise them through the correct channels
  • Visually inspect parts and material before and after assembly for conformance to drawings, quality standards and customer specifications, and make mechanical adjustments as needed
  • Check parts picked/delivered to those required using the bill of materials, resolving issues with the Team Lead
  • Repair or rework issues detected during the inspection/test stage of the job
  • Cross-train and backfill other employees/job functions when necessary
