Job Description:

Custom Switchboard Mechanical Assembler reporting to the Production Manager. This position involves assembling, fitting, and mounting mechanical components into steel switchboard structures using engineering drawings and models. Responsibilities include building structures, inspecting materials, using manufacturing equipment, and working to CSA and UL codes. Training will start with day shifts and transition to afternoon shifts upon independent capability.

Job Responsibility:

Build large switchboard structures and subassemblies using pre-fabricated metal parts
mount and brace horizontal and vertical bus, risers and bus supports inside structures in sequential order
use manufacturing equipment such as punch presses and band saws
construct pallets following engineering design requirements
ensure proper assembly fundamentals are used
identify design issues in mechanical and electrical schematics and raise them through the correct channels
inspect parts and material for conformance to quality standards
check parts against bill of materials
repair or rework issues during inspection/test stage
cross-train and backfill other employees/job functions
work to CSA and UL code
maintain internal kanban and MRB processes.

Requirements:

High aptitude for mechanical work
minimum 2 years experience in mechanical assembly using power tools
able to read and interpret engineering drawings and models
able to read, write and speak basic English without help from an interpreter
high school diploma or equivalent
legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future
very experienced with the use of power tools, hardware, ladders and pallet trucks
functional with computers, in order to use a variety of digital business tools
excellent attitude and commitment to quality, safety, continuous improvement and teamwork
strong work ethic to keep up with production demands
able to visualize and plan the assembly of a switchboard structure based on engineering schematics and electrical drawings.
