The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling large and intricate machines and components by following engineering blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions. This role is essential in ensuring that assemblies meet Viking's rigorous safety, quality, and performance standards - standards our customers have trusted for over 50 years. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail help us deliver dependable machines that keep our customers' businesses running strong.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, following all safety protocols and communicating concerns promptly
Assemble mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components using blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
Communicate needed changes or modifications to ensure equipment is assembled correctly
identify and report non‑conformities
Test and inspect assemblies to confirm functionality and verify that builds meet specifications before moving into system testing
Troubleshoot and correct issues that arise during assembly or testing
Collaborate effectively with team members within the assembly department to support accurate, efficient production
Perform daily tasks in accordance with Viking's documented quality procedures and work instructions
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read, write, understand, and follow basic work instructions
Basic math skills, including comfort with fractions
1+ year of experience in a related mechanical assembly or manufacturing role
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret engineering blueprints and schematics
Basic understanding of at least one of the following: mechanical assembly, pneumatics, or hydraulics
Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented
maintains high standards of accuracy
Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Ability to operate forklifts and gantry cranes
Capable of working with limited supervision while upholding Viking's quality expectations
Nice to have:
Two‑year technical degree in Automation & Manufacturing Technology or a related field
3+ years of experience in a related assembly environment
