Job Description

Emcon Services Inc. is a proud Canadian-based company with over 30 years of success as an interprovincial Road and Bridge Maintenance Contractor. We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our mechanical team as a Mechanical Apprentice for our Peel/Halton Division working out of Mississauga Shop. This is a unionized role.

Job Responsibility

Assisting with inspections, servicing and repairs on Emcon’s fleet of trucks, trailers and equipment
Assisting with annual safety inspections
Assisting with and following our preventative maintenance program
Performing basic mechanical repairs under supervision
Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition
Following all trade related and workplace safety procedures
Other duties as assigned

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Ontario Driver’s License
Mechanical aptitude and strong interest in the mechanical trade
Ability and aptitude to learn, apply and complete required theoretical and practical apprenticeship training
Good knowledge of trade related worksite safety
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
Capable of working overtime as required
Capable of performing call out to attend vehicle breakdown

Nice to have

Basic hand and power tool knowledge considered an asset
Experience on industry related heavy-duty equipment such as snow-plow trucks, winter maintenance attachments, loaders, grader, sweepers, mowers, backhoes, tractors, etc. considered an asset
