Job Description

Join LANXESS UK as a Mechanical & Process Technician – Deeside Site. Looking for a practical, hands-on role where your mechanical skills make a real impact? At our Deeside site, we’re seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Mechanical & Process Technician to support our operations. This is a great opportunity to work in a close-knit team, where precision and teamwork matter, and where your contribution is valued every day. This is a day position, working pattern 7.30-4pm.

Job Responsibility

  • Scrubber Plant Operation – Safely remove bromine residues from ISO tanks to prepare them for internal inspection and repair
  • Repacking Process – Transfer liquid bromine from bulk containers into 125L drums for distribution to smaller-use customers
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and complete daily performance logs
  • Perform hydrostatic testing of vessels and manage post-test cleaning (confined space entry required)
  • Ensure all activities meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency

Requirements

  • Qualified with 4+ GCSEs including English, Maths, and Science
  • Level 2 City & Guilds (or equivalent) in chemical process operations
  • 3–5 years experience in a similar role
  • Safety-conscious and confident working with hazardous chemicals
  • Adaptable to working in challenging physical environments, including heights, confined spaces and working outdoors
  • Skilled in following detailed procedures and completing checklists
  • B1 & B2 License for counterbalance Fork Lift Truck (training can be provided)
  • Basic IT skills using Excel, Word, Outlook

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on GMP and non-GMP process and support equipment, in accordance with schedule and approved practices
  • Lead troubleshooting of equipment and system malfunctions, identify root causes, and develop remediation strategies in collaboration with equipment owners and vendors
  • Support investigations and drive improvements in reliability engineering practices
  • Respond as the first-line technician to equipment issues, ensuring resolution through direct action or by coordinating service providers
  • Maintain cGMP-compliant documentation, both paper-based and electronic, for all maintenance activities
  • Provide operational and maintenance subject matter expertise for systems such as autoclaves, washers, isolators, TFF, chromatography skids, filling lines, mixers, and stainless-steel tanks
  • Supervise external contractors performing routine and non-routine work, ensuring compliance with GMP and site safety protocols
  • Deliver On Job Training (OJT) as a Qualified Trainer for maintenance-related activities
  • Administer and perform tasks safely in accordance with EHS requirements, including LOTO, hot work permits, and working at heights
  • Provide on-call support on a rotating basis, ensuring rapid response during off-hours or weekends
